Beirut — BirdLife International CEO Martin Harper has welcomed the launch of the new environmental media platform HimaEcoMedia and its podcast “The Earthbound 30×30,” describing the initiative as an important step in strengthening global voices for nature.

In a message marking the launch, Harper emphasized the critical role of environmental media in connecting science, conservation, and storytelling at a time when the world faces unprecedented environmental challenges.

“I warmly welcome the launch of HimaEcoMedia and the podcast ‘The Earthbound 30×30.’ At a time when the world urgently needs stronger voices for nature, initiatives that connect science, conservation, and storytelling are more important than ever,” Harper said.

He highlighted the importance of specialized media platforms in raising awareness about biodiversity protection and supporting the work of communities and conservation organizations worldwide.

According to Harper, initiatives such as HimaEcoMedia help inspire public engagement and strengthen collaboration among environmental actors, while also shedding light on successful conservation efforts across regions.

Harper also praised the vision behind “The Earthbound 30×30,” which aligns with the global ambition to conserve 30 percent of the planet’s land and sea by 2030, a key target promoted by the international conservation community.

“Media platforms such as HimaEcoMedia play a vital role in raising awareness, inspiring action, and highlighting the efforts of communities and organizations working to protect biodiversity,” he noted.

“The vision behind The Earthbound 30×30—supporting the global ambition to conserve 30% of land and sea by 2030—reflects the collective responsibility we all share to safeguard nature for future generations.”

Harper concluded by congratulating the team behind the initiative and expressing confidence that the platform will grow into a strong voice for environmental dialogue and cooperation across the region and beyond.

“I congratulate the team behind this initiative and look forward to seeing it become a powerful platform for environmental dialogue and collaboration across the region and beyond,” he said.

The launch of HimaEcoMedia marks a new step in strengthening environmental journalism and promoting nature conservation stories from the Arab region to the world.
