The meeting was attended alongside Ghanem by: Assaad Serhal, Director General of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL); Dr. Soumia Ayadi, President of the Association for Community and Environment (ACE); attorney Theodore De Mario Youssef, Secretary of GHADI; André Khalil, member of GHADI’s administrative board; Naheda Youssef Raslan, Vice President of the Upper Metn Association for Environment and Sustainable Development; Rafic Makarem, Manager of Hima Ras El Matn; André Bshara, Director of the Hima Guardians Program; Hammadeh Malaeb, Director of the Hima Trails Program; and Jawad Nweihd, Director of the Ecotourism Program at Hima Ras El Matn.

During the meeting, Ghanem presented the organization’s vision for advancing environmental media, highlighting the pioneering role played by the platforms Ghadinews and Al-Thair in covering environmental issues, disseminating reliable scientific knowledge, and promoting a culture of environmental responsibility among the public. These efforts, he noted, respond to current environmental challenges and support national initiatives aimed at protecting natural resources.

In this context, Ghanem announced the launch of HimaEcoMedia, a specialized environmental media platform dedicated to producing and disseminating high-quality scientific and documentary content. The platform aims to serve as a leading media space for strengthening professional environmental journalism in Lebanon and across the region.

He also announced the launch of the environmental podcast “The Earthbound 30×30,” developed in collaboration with the Society for the Protection of Nature in Lebanon (SPNL). The podcast will present educational and documentary content addressing biodiversity and sustainability issues, while promoting the concept of “Hima” as a national and community-based approach to nature conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources.

Ghanem further briefed the Minister on upcoming agreements that the association is preparing to sign with strategic partners. These partnerships aim to strengthen specialized environmental media, enhance the production of scientific and documentary content, and expand institutional cooperation in support of national environmental priorities.

The delegation also reviewed joint projects with members of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) network, which seek to reinforce the role of media in supporting national and international efforts to protect biodiversity and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Minister Morcos was also invited to participate in the “Hima Guardians Forum” and to visit Ras El Matn, an invitation he welcomed and expressed his willingness to accept together with his family.

For his part, the Minister of Information expressed his full support for these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of developing specialized media to strengthen environmental awareness and foster a responsible environmental culture within Lebanese society.

Ghanem concluded by reaffirming that GHADI remains committed to working in partnership with the Ministry of Information and all relevant stakeholders to strengthen Lebanon’s position as a leading platform for environmental media, while supporting national efforts to protect the environment and safeguard natural resources for future generations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Ghanem presented Minister Morcos with a commemorative shield in appreciation of his support and his efforts to promote environmental media and reinforce its presence at the national level.
