Gland, Switzerland / Beirut, Lebanon — The Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Dr. Grethel Aguilar, praised the efforts of the Ghadi Association and its partners in advancing environmental communication and conservation advocacy in Lebanon, despite the country’s ongoing challenges.
In an official message addressed to Fadi Ghanem , Dr. Aguilar expressed IUCN’s appreciation for the dedication demonstrated by the Ghadi Association in promoting environmental awareness and supporting nature conservation through innovative media initiatives.
Dr. Aguilar noted that the current situation in Lebanon remains extremely challenging, emphasizing that IUCN highly values the commitment and perseverance of organizations working to defend environmental causes and strengthen conservation efforts across the country.
She also welcomed the launch of the Association’s pioneering environmental media platforms and initiatives, stressing their important role in raising awareness, documenting environmental issues, inspiring public engagement, and motivating communities to support biodiversity conservation and sustainable development for years to come.
“Thank you for sharing the good news about the launch of these pioneering media initiatives. They will no doubt serve to raise awareness, communicate, document and motivate audiences in favour of nature conservation, for years to come. Congratulations for this wonderful achievement,” Dr. Aguilar stated.
The message reflects growing international recognition of Lebanon’s environmental media sector and highlights the importance of strategic communication in advancing global conservation goals and environmental sustainability.
